TORONTO (Reuters) - Indigenous protesters against Canada in their lives, deemed disastrous Saturday halted the flow of several trains between Toronto and Ottawa the capital, following the announcement of a meeting between Prime Minister Stephen Harper and heads indigènes.
The last indigenous protests last month in Canada, under the banner of the informal movement "Idle No More" ("Inaction is finished"), dominated by the figure of the Indian chief Theresa Spence strike hunger since 11 décembre.
Stephen Harper said the meeting, scheduled for Friday next, concerns the economic development of Amerindian communities and Inuit aboriginal rights and their relationship with the gouvernement.
Demonstrators protestingnow against all their lives, even if the original movement attacked specifically bills designed to liberalize the implementation of industrial projects, including the construction of pipelines, in areas inhabited by indigènes.
Canada has 1.2 million indigenous most of whom live on reserves where suicide rates and poverty are much higher than the average population.
